The Veritas Forum

Our Mission

Where does morality come from? Isn't science rapidly approaching a complete explanation of nature? Do you ever have doubts about your views?

College students around the world are asking themselves and their friends these questions, but there is often no real place to explore these questions alongside brilliant faculty and leading thinkers. And, despite his undeniable prominence, Jesus is almost never brought into the picture.
The Veritas Forum exists to change that landscape. We host university events that engage students and faculty in discussions about life's hardest questions and the relevance of Jesus Christ to all of life. "We" refers to the hundreds of university community members who desire to host, plan, and coordinate a Veritas Forum on their local campuses, and the headquarter team in Cambridge, MA, with regional staff across North America and Europe. We seek to inspire the shapers of tomorrow's culture to connect their hardest questions with the person and story of Jesus Christ.

“All things biblical” from the Hebrew Bible to Early Christianity in the Roman World and Beyond"

Dr. James Tabor is Chair of the Department of Religious Studies at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte where he is professor of Christian origins and ancient Judaism. He has his B.A. in Greek from Abilene Christian University (1966), his M.A. in Religion from Pepperdine University (1971), and an M.A. and Ph.D. in the History of Ancient Mediterranean Religions in the Humanities Division of the University of Chicago (1974, 1981). Tabor has combined his work on ancient texts with extensive field work in archaeology in Israel and Jordan, including work at Qumran, Sepphoris, Masada, and Wadi el-Yabis in Jordan. Over the past decade he has teamed up with with Shimon Gibson to excavate the “John the Baptist” cave at Suba, the “Tomb of the Shroud” discovered in 2000, and ongoing work at Mt Zion. Most recently, Tabor, along with Rami Arav,  have been involved in the re-exploration of two tombs in East Talpiot; the controversial “Jesus tomb” and a related tomb less than 200 feet away that has ossuary inscriptions Tabor and Arav interpret as Judaeo-Christian. Our core conviction is that religion and spirituality permeate everything, so the range of possible stories is vast. We are captivated by each day’s religion (and contra-religion) news, but we’re also enthralled by tales that arise from the deeper background, the unusual, uncanny stories that emerge in far-flung places: bedrooms, banks, schools, cinemas, just about anywhere humans do what they do. We’re especially interested in communities, and plan to specialize in stories that explore beliefs, practices, rituals as played out in specific neighborhoods, parishes, churches, synagogues, mosques, temples, humanist gatherings, and congregations of all kinds. Rarely does someone come along that just goes against all the odds, and succeed. We all are aware, I'm sure, of the conflict in the Middle East. Tension between Iran and Isreal is nothing new, but what is new, is what the people that live there are saying now, thanks to this man, Ronny "Pushpin" Edry.

Ronny is a graphic designer from Israel. He has a dream. Peace in the Middle East. Is this bar set too high? Is it possible? We here at Clean Slate think so, and we could use your voice, and pictures.

Visit Ronny's Page, and find out what truely remarkable things one person can do, when joined by another, and yet another. You will be amazed by the Ted Talks video on his page, and if you cry, it's okay...we all did. Please join us in supporting Ronny's Cause.

All it cost is a smile :)
